TWO women were taken to hospital this morning, after a house fire involving a tumble dryer.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) were called to the incident on Stanningley Road, near Bradford, at around 4:59am this morning.

Two females suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene initially.

An ambulance then took them to hospital for precautionary checks.

The fire was contained to the ground floor but there was smoke damage throughout the property.

Appliances from Stanningley and Bradford fire stations rushed to the scene to deal with the blaze.

A spokesperson from Stanningley fire station said it took the crews 30 to 45 minutes to put out the flames.

Both services are believed to have left the scene at around 8:55am.

Crews used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation to tackle the fire.

A fire investigation officer and the fire emergency support service also attended.

A WYFRS spokesperson said smoke detection was installed and working at the house.

The spokesperson from Stanningley said: "This was a condenser dryer - we advise that you don't use these overnight and make sure the device that holds the lint is cleaned regularly."
