A SUPERMARKET checkout worker has earned rave reviews from customers across social media.

Macauley Denning, who works at Asda in Shipley, has been praised by shoppers and colleagues alike for his infectious smile and his impressive checkout test result.

Mandy Godfrey, community colleague at Asda Shipley, said: “Our customers and colleagues love him, and customers will go out of their way in order to be served by him."

Mr Denning, who has cerebral palsy, began at the Shipley store in 2016 as part of a work placement managed by Shipley College.

He trialled a number of roles across the store, before passing a test in 2017 for a role on the checkouts with a score of 100 per cent.

Lisa Lawrence, customer trading manager at Asda Shipley, said: "Macauley is an absolute joy to work with. He smiles all the time and he's the politest young man I've ever met in my life.

"Customers will queue to be served by him and we've seen Facebook posts and Twitter messages praising him. He's had so many difficulties in his life but nothing's ever too much trouble. He's amazing."

She added: "Mick Goodall, our store manager, can't praise him enough and he is a credit to the store and his family.

"Macauley never lets his disability get him down and is always polite and cheery. He and his family are so pleased with his 100 per cent score on checkouts."
