A BAILDON school has won a Royal Horticultural Society award for its 3D design of a sensory garden for the local community

Titus Salt School’s team triumphed in the West Yorkshire Green Plan It Challenge.

The six-strong team of 12 to 14-year-olds worked with industry professionals to create its sensory garden, with five areas dedicated to each of the senses featuring a water fountain, fragrant flowers, edibles, brightly coloured plants and plants of different textures.

The school can now apply for £2,000 of funding to make their design a reality.

Andrea Van-Sittart, RHS head of community outreach, said: “I’m always amazed at the creative and detailed designs dreamed up by pupils, with many opting to tackle some of today’s greatest challenges, from food sustainability to wildlife conservation and mental wellbeing.”
