NEARLY 400 people from across Bradford district and Craven celebrated the 70th anniversary of the NHS at the NHS Christmas Carol Concert at Bradford Cathedral last night.
Children from the signing choirs from Swain House and Girlington primary schools, young members of the Bradford Youth Brass Band, the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Zafar Ali and the Rt Rev Toby Haworth, Bishop of Bradford, joined the Cathedral Choir and Chief Officer of Bradford District and Craven CCGs, Helen Hirst to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS.
The event was attended by the NHS staff, their friends and families and all who wished to celebrate the NHS across Bradford District and Craven, in a packed cathedral with a record turnout.
Helen Hirst said: “The NHS Christmas Carol Concert was a great success and a packed cathedral of over 380 people came together to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
"As the festive season sets in and the temperature drops, demand increases on our busy services and it was an honour to recognise and celebrate the hard work that goes into caring for our local communities 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year.
“I would like to thank everyone who came along and who took part, including the Bradford Music and Arts Service, Bradford Youth Brass Band, the signing choirs from Swain House and Girlington primary schools, Bradford Cathedral Choir and all at the Cathedral as well as the staff who gave readings and led prayers, all of whom made this occasion such a special event.”
