A BURGLAR has been jailed after stealing thousands of pounds worth of goods from an auction house.

Carl Cartwright broke into the Warrington Auction House in Westbrook on Wednesday, October 10, and took £3,500 of jewellery, watches and coins.

On Thursday, December 6, the 45-year-old was sentenced to 23 weeks behind bars at Warrington Magistrates Court after admitting burglary and breaching a community order.

The order had previously been handed down by the courts in September for an offence of driving while disqualified in a Renault Kangoo on King Edward Street in Padgate.

Cartwright, of Dunnock Grove in Birchwood, was jailed due to his 'previous record of dishonesty offences and the high value of goods taken'.

He was also ordered to pay £4,000 in compensation to the Europa Boulevard auction house.
