A BRADFORD school has won the semi-finals of a national competition.

One of the regional semi-final heats of the National Young Mathematicians' Awards took place in the Bradford Explore Learning centre on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

Heaton St Barnabus was crowned champion of the region's primary schools at the event, with pupils, Noah, Arkan, Zaynab and Billy successfully beating 26 other schools to get through to the next stage.

Now, they are in with a chance of competing at the grand final in Cambridge, hosted by University Challenge legend, Bobby Seagull.

The top five primary and secondary school teams from the semis across the country will be invited to the finals in January next year.

This esteemed list of ten will be revealed later in the month.

There are a variety or prizes up for grabs for winners and runners up, including BOXER, a tiny interactive AI robot, worth £79.99.
