STUDENTS at a Bradford school have been getting prepared for the world of work, after a series a mock job interviews were organised by the school.

Tong Leadership Academy, in Tong, is aiming to help its students be the best prepared for their fire job interviews as they can be, by running a scheme alongside Ahead Partnership.

Year 10 and sixth-form students were put through their paces and given the skills and experience that will stand them in good stead for their first job.

Business leaders also visited the school to advise students on potential career paths and the steps they need to take to achieve their goals.

Year 10 student Nevaeh McGinty said: “The interview process allowed me to see that entering the world of work wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it was.

“My entire concept of looking for work has been changed because I understand now that stepping out of my comfort zone isn’t as scary as I thought.”

Daniel Styles, principal at Tong, added: “We are very grateful to Ahead Partnership for its support in helping us prepare our pupils for job and further education interviews.

“The key to success in any endeavour is to be prepared, so we wanted to give our pupils the chance to experience a mock interview in as real conditions as possible. The pupils were a credit not only to themselves but also to the school and presented themselves very professionally.”
