A MAN who made off from police officers after he was sighted climbing onto roofs in Cleckheaton town centre was stopped stopped a short distance away.
Officers from Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team tweeted that they were conducting burglary patrols and said Sunday had been an interesting night.
They said they also stopped a man in Cleckheaton who was spotted removing donations that had been left outside a charity shop.
The items included a child's rocking horse which has been recovered to Heckmondwike police station for safe keeping, and will be returned to its rightful owners.
Several vehicles and people were also checked, officers attended a report of a burglary to a commercial premises in Batley and two locations were checked following alarm activations in Birstall.
