A PLOT of land next to Heckmondwike Cemetery has sold at auction for £67,000 above its guide price.
The land at Forrest Hall, off Longfield Road, has been mooted for a new housing development for over a decade.
In 2011 a planning application to build 11 houses on the 1.45 acre site was refused by Kirklees Council, but that decision was later overturned by a government inspector on appeal. The planning permission for houses has since expired without the houses being built.
The 1.45 acre site went under the hammer at an auction by Pugh Property last week.
The guide price had been £100,000, but the plot sold on the day for £167,000.
The identity of the buyer has not yet been disclosed.
