POLICE based in a North-East seaside town have taken part in a Christmas present appeal to help needy children.

Neighbourhood officers from Redcar, and the town’s PCSOs bought gifts for all age ranges in order to help children and youths suffering deprivation and difficult circumstances during the festive period.

The gifts were delivered to a volunteer at the Salvation Army Church in Guisborough on Friday by a police constable and PCSO, where they will be wrapped and distributed across communities to those in need.

A spokesperson for the neighbourhood police team said: “It was very heart warming and humbling to see the amount of gifts provided to the Salvation Army by the general public and all for a very worthy cause.”
