MAIN Street in Haworth has been lit up again this weekend for the annual Haworth Torchlight Weekend.

The two day festival takes place every year as part of the Christmas in Haworth celebrations, and sees hundreds of people parade through the village as scores of onlookers line the streets.

On Saturday, the first procession was held, and is being followed by another procession today, which is followed by a carol service in St Michael’s and All Angels Church.

The march on Saturday was put in jeopardy by this weekend’s foul weather, but the hardy folk of Haworth braved the rain and winds to ensure the march went ahead.

West Yorkshire Police Brass Band also joined torchbearers along the cobbles, with carols sung along the way as well as thrilling fire juggling displays.

On Thursday, shops in the historic village will be open late for shoppers to pick up Christmas gifts, and this coming weekend will see brass bands performing, and next weekend will be the annual Nativity weekend.

All events at Christmas in Haworth are free to attend.
