A PRE-school in Little Horton has retained its ‘Good’ rating, following a recent Ofsted inspection.

Park Lane Pre-School, based at the Park Lane Centre in Pakington Street, was praised by inspectors for creating a “welcoming and stimulating environment”.

In the report, Ofsted said: “Children make good progress and are prepared well for school.

“Staff effectively support children who have special educational needs, giving careful thought to the provision of resources and activities to fully ensure inclusion.

“Staff help children to learn about difference, feel valued and develop a strong sense of belonging.

“Staff create a welcoming, stimulating, safe and accessible environment that fosters children’s independent learning and good behaviour. Children are eager to take part in activities and they play amicably.

To become an Outstanding early years provider, Park Lane was told it needs to improve links between parents and staff, so parents know more about their children’s achievements and learning needs, so their learning can be better supported at home.

It was also told to strengthen its assessments of children’s progress and monitor these more closely, so any gaps in children’s learning can be spotted earlier.
