A CAMPAIGN to raise £1 million for a cancer treatment centre has been boosted by a 'Positivity Potion.'

The fundraising drive was launched by Jacqui Drake, who has stage 4 skin cancer and is treated at the Leeds Cancer Centre, the Bexley Wing of St James's Hospital. She set up Jacqui's Million to make the centre more homely for people visiting patients and staying overnight.

Jacqui, 55, of Apperley Bridge, has raised more than £110,000 and aims to hit £112,000 by Christmas. As well as scented candles and beakers, she has gin glasses bearing her ‘Positivity’ message. They were launched at Bar Lusso in Greengates, which sponsored 250 of them. Each glass costs £10 and the bar is selling two ‘Positivity Potion’ cocktails, with £1 going to the appeal.

"We sold 33 cocktails and some glasses, which raised another £231," said Jacqui. "The bar is going to keep it on the drinks menu, which is fantastic. I can't thank Adlo, Allan and Matthew enough for all their support."

Jacqui is also launching a festive fundraiser. "I was approached by Oliver Kenny from The Christmas Tree Shop who sell trees to major outlets and he came up with a great idea - Jacqui’s Million Positivity Christmas Trees!" she said. "If people go and buy one he will donate 10per cent of each sale to my appeal. People just need to quote code JACQUISMILLION and order either on his facebook Christmas Tree Shop or at The George Pub, Idle; United Carpets & Beds, Baildon; or Bradford & Bingley Golf Club, Bingley."
