A SPECIAL carol service will be held at Bradford Cathedral next week to mark the NHS's 70th birthday.

Health service staff, family, friends - and anyone whose life has been touched by the NHS - is invited to attend.

The Rt Reverend Toby Howarth, Bishop of Bradford, will speak at the service, which will also include performances from the Bradford Youth Brass Band, the signing choirs of Girlington and Swain House primary schools, and the Cathedral choir.

Staff from the three NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in the Bradford district and Craven are helping to organise the service.

A spokesperson said: “There’s really nothing like a carol service for getting everyone in the festive mood, and looking forward to Christmas. And, in the closing weeks of the year, we will be giving thanks for 70 years of the NHS and marking the dedication and service of those who work within it. There will be a warm welcome for anyone who would like to attend and a chance to catch up with friends, old and new, when refreshments are served after the service.”

The carol service is free of charge and open for anyone to attend. It will be held on Thursday, December 13 from 7pm. Doors open at 6.30pm, no ticket needed.
