OLYMPIC triathlon champion and Bingley Harrier Alistair Brownlee was the first guest on a radio quiz show yesterday, and his trivia knowledge didn't quite match up to his athletic prowess.

The Bramhope-based athlete appeared on Yesterday's Quiz on the Breakfast Show with Greg James on Radio 1, as the first member of the Team GB Triathlon team's Leeds squad who are taking part in the quiz this week.

In the quiz, Alistair - who won gold at London 2012 - was tasked with answering questions about things which happened the previous day, including which song was sung to open X Factor (Baby Shark), the first person to be voted out of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (Noel Edmonds) and what day it was the previous day (Sunday).

Alistair struggled with some of the questions, only managing to muster a score of five from 11 questions.

This morning, team-mate Gordon Benson, from Halifax, who won gold at the 2015 European Games and also famously appeared in a TV advert for Muller Rice, appearing alongside a rapping bear singing a rice-themed version of Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby', took part in the game.

Gordon fared just as badly as Alistair in the quiz, scoring five from 13 questions. Tomorrow, fellow triathlete Mark Buckingham will take on the quiz, followed by the final member of the team on Thursday.
