BINGLEY Grammar School has been named one of just three schools in the North East of England to be a Centre of Excellence for financial education.
It was announced at financial education charity Young Money’s annual conference.
By being named a Centre of Excellence, the school will receive support providing practical, effective and sustainable financial education for its students.
Sharon Davies, deputy chief executive of Young Money, presented Bingley Grammar with its award, along with the Beacon Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Handsworth Grange Community Sports College in Sheffield.
The conference allows teachers to showcase their work, share ideas, attend workshops and access a large range of teaching resources and tools for financial education.
Ms Davies said: “The annual Centres of Excellence conference is an excellent opportunity to highlight financial education excellence in schools.
“It was great to meet teachers from the schools involved in the award ceremony and I would like to congratulate them again on their success in embedding financial education into their schools.
“We’re already looking forward to awarding new schools from across the country at next year’s Centre of Excellence conference.”
The award recognises schools committed to developing and continuing excellence in financial education.
