HUNDREDS of people welcomed the first day of December with a trip to Clayton Dickensian Market.

For the 13th year in succession, the village threw open its doors and hosted a seasonal array of food and craft stalls for visitors to peruse as the Christmas season began in earnest.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Zafar Ali, opened the 85-stall market on a day when the weather was more wet, dreary and stuck in November, rather than festive and snowy.

Many of the town's residents pulled on fancy dress for their annual showcase, with children and adults playing parts in a classic Nativity scene, while some opted for more traditional Victorian attire for the occasion.

Entertainment was provided through a funfair and birds of prey, while some historic Jowett cars were also put on display.

Bands, solo singers and choirs also take to the stage during the event as well.

A grand raffle was drawn in the evening at Clayton Conservative Club, with the winner taking home a two night hotel stay, with £100 spending money to go with it.
