ECCLESHILL'S Christmas lights are going to be switched on tomorrow in a fun-packed ceremony.
Schoolgirl Cora Kerin, 10, will do the honours at Sunday's celebration event.
She won the design a poster completion for the official switch-on organised by Eccleshill Village Steering Group with a design featuring penguins and a Christmas tree.
The event will start at 4.45pm on Eccleshill recreation field and the public are asked to bring their torches and take part in Christmas carol singing.
The torch lit procession will then wend its way to Eccleshill Mechanics Institute, a short distance away, where the village Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.10pm.
Choirs from Blooming Buds Theatre Company and St Luke’s Primary school will entertain the crowd at the institute.
There will be mulled wine, children’s refreshments and mince pies on offer.
There will be some road closures in place for the event.
