A BRADFORD house will go up for auction next month for less than the cost of pint of lager or Coca Cola.

You won't need to win the Lotto jackpot to purchase this building, as it's half the price of a lottery ticket.

The three bedroom property, 3 Edlington Close in Holme Wood, will open for bids at a starting price of one British pound at an auction at Elland Road on Wednesday, December 12.

The lot also has no reserve price, meaning bidders could grab it for as low as the minimum.

That's less expensive than a McDonald's Big Mac, a Greggs Steak Bake and most Christmas advent calendars.

The reason for the low minimum is the house was ravaged by a fire back in 2015, which led to the collapse of the property's roof and much of the premises needs complete renovation before it's in a fit state for living.

Fire crews from five different stations around Bradford and Leeds dealt with the blaze - suspected to be arson - that led to the house's current state.

At the time, more than 50 people watched the drama unfurl, with firefighters banging on neighbouring doors to make sure people were safe.

Auction House West Yorkshire, the company auctioning the property, said on the listing page that there would be no viewings available due to the poor condition of the house.

But it added: "Properties don't come any cheaper than this. A perfect project for a builder [or] renovator to get stuck into during the winter months."

The average house price on the street stands at around £67,000.

An individual taking on this project could then be looking at a potential five figure profit, if the property was bought for £1 and dependent on renovation costs.

Any buyer must also take into an account an administration charge of a minimum £900 including VAT, as well as search fees of £200 including VAT and any other potential costs listed on the auction listing.

But, even then the house could still end up costing less than it would to buy a brand new car.

The house could easily become a home with a little love and care, as there's plenty of local amenities including a pharmacy, a fisheries, a shop and a primary school.

If you want to bag a bargain of a lifetime, the auction takes place in the Peter Lorimer Suite at Elland Road on Wednesday, December 12 at 2pm.
