ICE sculptor - Jamie Wardley - will be carving a 3.5m Christmas Tree as part of a project to support the homeless.

Jamie, who grew up in Bradford and runs the sand and ice sculpting creative 'Sand in Your Eye' is working with national charities Shelter, Penny Appeal and the Booth Centre in Manchester.

Artists from Sand in Your Eye will be carving the tree in Manchester on Wednesday (December 5) between 1 and 7pm and are inviting the public to come and place gifts, such as toiletries, winter warmers including hats, scarves, gloves and socks, and cakes, biscuits and chocolate, under the tree to give to the homeless. They are encouraged to bring the gifts unwrapped and to wrap them under the tree.

A short film about the day by film director, Bezmond, will be available online. The #IceXmasTreeMCR is supported by the Great Northern Warehouse, the gift wrap will be donated by Hallmark and over a tonne of ice will be donated by the Ice Co.

Says Jamie: β€œIn the UK it can be seen as normal for people to be homeless and that should not be the case. These are vulnerable people who are on the street that need support. So please come and support them by putting a gift under the tree.”
