OAKWORTH teenager Hollie Smith will join Matthew Bourne’s world-renowned New Adventures dance troupe for the premiere of his latest ballet, Romeo + Juliet.

The 17-year-old, who has been dancing for 14 years, has been plucked from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts to perform alongside the professional cast.

She will appear at Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre from May 22 to 25 next year.

Hollie is no stranger to the professional stage after performing in the musical Annie in Leeds and in five Alhambra pantomimes as a Sunbeam and a Dwarf.

As a child she also performed in Northern Ballet’s professional productions of The Nutcracker and A Tale of Two Cities.

Hollie started ballet at the age of three with the Sara Packham Theatre School in Keighley. Her mother Dawn said: “Hollie feels that the amazing support that her ballet teacher Sara gave her in her early training was crucial to where she is today, and the many opportunities Sara helped her to access. This gave Hollie the skills to pursue her dream to dance professionally.”
