THE legendary Lauryn Hill told me that Scotland is one of her favourite places as she brought her family here for the start of her UK tour.

Ms Hill who broke the 11pm curfew at the SSE Hydro and played while the house lights were up as a result of of being late on stage didn’t actually leave her hotel until 9.45pm.

She took everything in her stride and has said before she needs everything to be in alignment before she performs.

Her children arrived at the venue an hour before she did and she left the hotel with her stage clothes on but took her whole wardrobe with her just in case.

I was talking about her gig on Radio 5 Live and actually managed a wee chat with her afterwards when I reminded her I’d travelled in her personal car when I was in Miami 15 years ago.

I’d gone to visit Bob Marley’s late mum (a whole other story) and had been picked up in her people carrier, complete with cream leather seats and a head rest emblazoned with the Lion of Zion.

Anyway, she shook my hand, invited me in her car for a pic and told me it was a pleasure while I complimented her on her tartan dress.

Tasty treat for Motherwell ace

MOTHERWELL right back Richard Tait prepared for his winning game with some Greek food at the newly-opened Halloumi Southside

The 28-year-old was with his stunning girlfriend Jess who writes foodie blog Just Jess Food.

They sat beside me as I sampled the moreish mezze of lamb souvlaki, Greek salad and sea bream.

Richard said: “It’s good to be a plus one for this sort of delicious stuff.”

He also told me he has one tiny superstition before games.

He said: “I make sure I keep my shin pads on for the warm up. Typically the boys won’t put them on until the start of the game but I always put mine on first.”

Amy gets the acting bug

AMY MACDONALD joked that she hasn’t stopped hearing from famous directors following her new role in Still Game

Amy filmed her episode of the final series at King Tuts a few months ago and had the pleasure of watching herself over the weekend.

She said of her acting debut: “In all seriousness. It was such an honour to be part of it all. Such an amazing group of people and such an iconic show.

“Thank you for having me. Tonight I watched myself star in Still Game – my favourite ever show. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since. Scorsese, Eastwood, Spielberg.

“From Celebrity mastermind specialist subject to actually being a part of the final series.

“Thank you for writing me a wee part Greg Hemphill and Ford Kieran.”
