A TAXI was written off last night after an uninsured driver ploughed into the back of it in a four car crash in Barkerend.

The 23-year-old woman was driving a white Volkswagen Golf at around 11.40pm last night when her car smashed into the back of a Toyota Avensis taxi in Killinghall Road, close to the Murco filling station.

A Volkswagen Passat was also involved in the crash, as well as a Vauxhall Zafira, which was parked up.

The Toyota taxi sustained serious damage to its rear end and the Golf sustained major damage to its front end. Damage was also caused to the rear of the Passat.

All the people involved in the crash were lucky to get away with only minor injuries, but the type of injuries are unknown.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said a 23-year-old woman, who was driving the Golf, was found to have no insurance, and was reported for the offence.
