A SEA of red will take over Victoria Park as the St Helens Santa Dash is held.

Organised by St Helens Sports Development, the new event is open to people of all abilities who can run or walk around the 2.4-mile loop, with all profits on the day going to the mayor of St Helens’ chosen charities; The Steve Prescott Foundation, and St Helens Hospital Diabetes Centre.

Participants can raise sponsorship for their chosen charity, or just take part for fun in the Christmassy run.

Gemma Harkness, from St Helens Sports Development, said: “We’re very much looking forward to bringing our Santa Dash to Victoria Park which promises to be a fantastic festive community event.

“We’d love to see as many people as possible get involved - whether it’s by participating or coming out to watch - to support this event which is sure to get people in the Christmas spirit, all while raising funds for some very important causes.”

Entry to take part in the event on Saturday, December 15 - which gets underway at 11:00am - is £5 for adults and £2 for children and young people aged 5-18. Children under 5 can take part free of charge.

Every paying participant will receive a hat to wear on route and will receive a medal, mince pie and drink when they finish.
