CAMPION U21s remain top of the West Riding County FA U23s Development League but they had to do it the hard way.

They found themselves 2-0 behind versus Garforth Town but hit back to win 3-2 with goals from Taylor Foley, Calvin Clavecillas and Josiah Chilaka.

That victory came after Guy Bolton (2), Max Borland and Jack Stirland were on target in their 4-3 win against Yorkshire Amateur U23s.

Brighouse Town U21s drew 1-1 against Huddersfield YMCA in the West Riding Development League Premier Division.

Both sides were evenly matched as the game went from one end to the other with both defences on top.

In the early stages Brighouse did struggle to defend corners but this was sorted out with instructions from the management team.

With the game being a local derby, there were plenty of heavy tackles and niggly moments which the referee did well to control.

After a goalless first half, the second period continued in the same vein, with neither side being able to get on top of each other.

Following a corner in the 71st minute, the ball dropped to the Brighouse centre half Ewan Gardiner, who lashed home into the far corner of the net.

The game became very stop start as YMCA strived to get the equaliser and just as it seemed Town would win the game, YMCA grabbed a late equaliser.

Barry Thomas, Brighouse assistant manager, said: “Overall, the draw was a fair result with neither side able to dominate the game."

In Division One, Alex Dunne scored for Thackley U21s but it proved to be a consolation goal as Greetland Goldstars JFC Goldstars ran out 2-1 winners.
