PART of a road has been sealed off today after a shopfront collapsed in Earlestown.

An area of Market Street has been closed off after the collapse in the early hours of this morning.

Building control officers from St Helens Council attended to secure the area and work has taken place to clear bricks from the site.

A road closure has been in place.

A St Helens Council spokesperson said: “The council received a call in the early hours of this morning (Monday, November 19) about a shopfront building collapse at 82-84 Market Street, Earlestown.

“Building control officers have been at the scene to secure the area and members of our cleansing team are on site to clear brickwork from the highway.

“As a result of this incident, motorists are advised that Market Street is currently closed but is expected to reopen later today.”
