PLANNERS have given the go ahead for the demolition of a set of fire damaged changing rooms at a Bradford playing pitch.

The changing rooms at Seymour Street Recreation Ground are among a number of unused public facilities Bradford Council had applied for permission to demolish.

They said the changing rooms had become “unusable” after suffering from arson attacks and vandalism, and had become a magnet for public drinking and anti social behaviour.

The plans to demolish the structure (pictured) have been approved, and work is expected to start imminently.

The Council has also been granted permission to pull down changing rooms at Wyke Recreation Centre. The former air raid shelter was replaced by newer facilities in 2014, and has been empty ever since.

Demolition work there is expected to start in the New Year.

A derelict toilet block at the same site, off the Town Gate entrance, will also be demolished.

And plans to pull down former toilets at another site - at Ladyhill Park on Allerton Road, were also given the go ahead by planners.
