WINDHILL Community Centre is to hold a 'Christmas Wrap' event to help families with their presents.

The centre, which is within an area of deprivation, is asking for the help of the local community businesses, churches and individuals.

Families will be given designated time slots on Sunday, November 25, from 11am to 4pmwhere they can pick and wrap a present for their children.

Many parents struggle to make ends meet during the festive season and the centre also holds a Secret Santa where the children can pick a present for a brother, sister, grandparents and so on and then wrap it for them.

Around 100 families took advantage of this event last year which was an increase on the 70 the previous year. The sheer joy of children being able to wrap a present for a family member cannot be underestimated.

The centre accepts new or nearly new toys and unwanted gifts that may be thrown away. Larger companies can help with donations in the form of vouchers for children meals, gift cards for older children, chocolate coins and wrapping paper for presents.
