A NURSERY has cause for celebration after receiving the 'outstanding' rating from Ofsted.

The education watchdog visited Children's Place Summerfield, Eccleshill, last month and gave it the highest rating in every area in a glowing inspection report.

Inspectors say all children make rapid progress in their learning, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, that staff are highly qualified and "strive to be the very best" and that children are "extremely happy, show high levels of confidence and self-esteem" and behave "impeccably well".

Children's Place took on the nursery in October 2016 following its closure earlier that year.

"All staff have an excellent understanding of their roles in keeping children safe," says the report.

"Managers and staff have high aspirations for all children. Their drive and commitment to ensuring children learn through interesting, exciting learning opportunities is infectious."

The report also highlights that children's language and communication skills "blossom", including for those who speak English as an additional language.

Inspectors describe staff as "excellent role models".

"Staff nurture children's all-round development superbly with excellent care that supports their individual emotional needs, the report says.

"Staff are excellent role models and create a culture of mutual respect and kindness throughout the nursery.

"Children's self-care skills continually blossom. They make informed choices with regard to their play and learning and develop strong attachments with their peers."

The way children in the nursery's care are prepared for the move to school is also praised.

"They [children] develop excellent skills through an extensive range of activities to prepare them extremely well for the

next stage in their learning or school.

"Children are enthusiastic learners and become absorbed in their play."

The nursery said: "We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised the commitment and motivation of our team and our partners to provide the highest quality education and care for our children, providing children with early years experiences that last a lifetime.

"Children’s Place LTD, in collaboration with Newlands Partnership, Thorpe Edge Community Project and the Rockwell Centre made it possible for the nursery to reopen and for the community to have their nursery back."
