POLICE are investigating an attempted robbery at Harrogate Road Post Office, Eccleshill.

Raiders attempted to enter the premises at 4.43am on Thursday morning.

The front door was crowbarred and the security glass was crazed.

The raiders departed when they failed to break in to the post office and nothing was taken.

Nobody was injured in the incident but the postmasters posted on Facebook that they were unable to reopen for the time being due to the damage caused.

Police inquiries into the attempted are continuing.
