Three men have been convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court of their part in an incident in which a shotgun was fired at a house in Queensbury.

Paul Wilcox, 36, who has been recalled to prison for a similar offence; Lee Thompson, 31, of no fixed address, and Ryan Lancaster-Baxter, 20, of Intake Terrace, Fagley, Bradford, are in custody awaiting sentence.

All three were found guilty yesterday afternoon of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on March 19.

Wilcox and Thompson were convicted by unanimous verdicts and Lancaster-Baxter by a majority verdict of 11-1.

During the trial at Bradford Crown Court, prosecutor Michael Greenhalgh said that a shotgun was discharged at a house in Union House Lane at around 9.40pm.

The occupier heard a bang, looked outside and saw a small car driving away.

The jury was told that CCTV from a nearby property showed a vehicle drawing up to the targeted address and a male person getting out, taking out a gun and walking to the house.

Mr Greenhalgh said it was not possible to identify the male but an image analyst revealed that the car was a Citroen C2. A similar vehicle was insured by Lancaster-Baxter and it was stated that mobile phone traffic linked the three defendants.

After the guilty verdicts were returned, Frances Hertzog, barrister for Lancaster-Baxter, asked for his bail to be enlarged until the sentencing hearing.

Miss Hertzog said he was a young man who had never been in trouble with the police previously.

But Judge Neil Davey QC remanded him in custody and ordered a report from the probation service.

The judge stressed that the report would go only to the length of the custodial sentence he would receive.

The sentencing hearing will be fixed administratively for a date in January.

Judge Davey told the three defendants: “You have all been convicted of an extremely serious firearms offence that will inevitably demand a long custodial sentence.”
