A SCHOOL has urged parents to take care when dropping children off at school after a "near miss".

In a letter to parents, John Davison, Headteacher at Wilsden Primary School, Tweedy Street, said: "Following a near miss involving one of our children on Tweedy Street this morning please can I ask that wherever possible parents do not bring their cars onto Tweedy Street.

"If this is not possible please can I ask that anyone using the street does so very carefully and that children are dropped off safely at the side of the road.

"The safety of the children is our main concern and I appreciate your support and help with this."

Mr Davison added: "We are currently talking to the council about any other systems that they can put in place to help us to protect the children.

"However, in the meantime we would be very grateful if you do not bring your car along Tweedy Street."
