THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas officially gets underway in Brighouse with a food and craft market on November 24 and 25.

Across the weekend, there will be a market, live music and a range of Christmas fun for all the family – including the switch-on of the town’s festive lights.

Over 70 stalls of locally produced food and crafts will take over the town centre, while the market will include Gohrt Bakery – an artisan Nordic Bakery with Christmas cinnamon buns and gingerbread; Off the Grain – selling handmade wooden furniture and décor, and Student Design Co. with a range of laser cut gifts.

As well as the food and craft market, the weekend sees Father Christmas turning on the town’s Christmas lights on Saturday afternoon at around 4pm at the stage on Bradford Road.

On Saturday, the market is open from 10am to 5pm with the switch-on at 4pm. The market re-opens on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Anne Colley, chair of the Brighouse Business Initiative, said: “We hope that as many people as possible will come to the town centre to get into the festive spirit, see the exciting range of food and crafts on offer and cheer as Father Christmas takes time out of his busy diary to turn on our Christmas lights.”
