PLANS for a new building at a Bradford special school have been given the go ahead.

The application for a "modular unit" at High Park School, Thorn Lane, Heaton, outlined: "Due to the large increase in SEN (Special Educational Needs) pupil spaces required in the Bradford Metropolitan District, a number of existing SEN schools have to urgently increase their capacity to meet the present and future projected needs.

"High Park has been identified as one of these schools due its location and potential for additional capacity."

This will provide two additional reception age class bases, each to have around six pupils.

High Park School is a specialist school for children and young people, aged three to 19 years, who have severe and complex needs arising from communication and interaction difficulties, autism and severe learning difficulties.
