SIR - I was moved to read the front page 'Fears for the future of the Craven Pupil Referral Service', (Craven Herald, November 8). Craven PRS is my mayoral charity,in which role I have spoken at length to Nick Bell, the headmaster.
As mentioned in your article his concerns include the likelihood of leaving the current
school site, cutting back on services offered and loading staff.
Any of that would be a tragedy not only for the school itself, but for the wider community that they serve.
It is encouraging to read of the support of our Member of Parliament, Julian Smith, with whom I have been in ongoing contact on this matter.
The school are of the view that they could lose half of their funding, not only the £2,000 reduction that NYCC state would be the case. Even that cut would be nigh on impossible to absorb without serious consequences.
Please let North Yorkshire County Council know your views
