A FAMILY managed to escape a house fire in the early hours of the morning.
Firefighters from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury were called to Vernon Road, Heckmondwike, at around 5.25am.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said the first-floor bedroom was "100 per cent involved in fire".
Three adults and three children escaped after being alerted to the fire by smoke alarms.
One woman was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, while a young boy was taken for a precautionary check-up.
Four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation fan were used.
WYFRS said two smoke alarms were fitted in the property and were working.
