A LOCAL supermarket has launched a bumper breakfast butty which weighs in at close to a kilo.

The "Builders Big Breakfast Butty" is a creation by supermarket giant Morrisons which aims to stuff all the ingredients of a traditional breakfast into a single bread bun.

This isn't just a normal sized breakfast though.

The new food item crams the main ingredients of the Morrisons "Big Daddy Breakfast" into a portable pocket of bread, weighing in at three quarters of a kilo and measuring four inches deep.

It includes two rashers of back bacon, two hash browns, two pork sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, a fried egg and a grilled tomato.

Danny Clee, Cafés Manager at Morrisons, said: "Customers were telling us that they didn’t always have the time to have breakfast in the café so we set about creating an on-the-go version.

"It’s the biggest butty we’ve ever made and not for the faint-hearted."

The Builders Big Breakfast Butty also comes in Scottish and vegetarian versions.

Butty buffs can either enjoy their Builders Big Breakfast Butty in the store’s café or if they’re short on time, they can grab it to go.
