Three people were arrested after dramatic scenes unfolded in the Bradford district last night.

At one point, a police car was rammed on Otley Road, Baildon, in an incident involving two stolen cars at around 7:20pm yesterday.

But, officers were able to detain a trio of suspects, aged 18, 19 and 20.

One of the vehicles had been stolen in South Yorkshire, while the other had been taken from Clayton, Bradford.

The three were arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with an incident in Clayton, in November.

They remain in custody at this time.

A picture, tweeted by police, shows the damaged police vehicle sandwiched against the two stolen cars.

One officer said the incident would teach people not to drive stolen cars through Baildon.

PC Sam Johnson tweeted: “Stolen vehicle abandoned, another stolen vehicle seen nearby, rams police vehicles but ultimately, 3 in custody for burglary.”

Sergeant T Green, the prevention and early intervention sergeant for Shipley and Baildon, added: “Stolen from Barnsley and Clayton, teach them to drive stolen cars through Baildon.”
