CATS Protection is appealing for volunteers to help in its Shipley charity shop, which re-opened at the end of October following interior refurbishments.

A giant cat (pictured) welcomed members of the public to the shop, located at 8 Market Square, to celebrate the re-opening and showcase the items available for purchase.

The shop, which is open between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays, stocks a variety of donated clothes, shoes, entertainment and homewares.

Money raised through the shop supports the charity’s Wharfe Valley Branch in funding cat rehoming, public education and neutering work in the local area.

Jon Bishop, Manager at Cats Protection’s Shipley Shop, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along and celebrated the re-opening of our shop. It was so great to see so many new and familiar cat-lovers.

“We’re really short of volunteers to help at the moment, so would love to find local cat lovers with a few hours to spare. No previous shop experience is needed, as full training will be given, but we need people who love cats and have bags of enthusiasm. By sparing just a few hours a week it can make a huge difference to needy cats.”

Shop volunteers play a vital role in the shop, acting as a public face for the charity. Roles are varied and include serving customers, sorting and pricing donations or organising stock.

Anyone wishing to find out more about volunteering at the shop or donating stock should contact shop manager, Jon Bishop, by calling in, phoning 01274 580542 or emailing Shipley.shopmanager@cats.org.uk.
