ONE of the stars of Gogglebox has stopped by Tong Leadership Academy to help students in a three-day educational workshop.

The workshop has been created and deliver by former teacher Baasit Siddiqui, who appears on the hit Channel 4 show with his family.

Working with Year 9 students, they worked in small groups to create an idea for a new and original television show, and then research, plan and create a two-minute promotional advert.

The pitches will be judged, and the three best from across the UK could win £2,000 worth of digital tech for the school.

Mr Siddiqui said: “It was a great end to a busy week.

“I had such fun with the Year 9s, the creativity and ideas from this group of students has been amazing.

“It’s about helping them use their skills to articulate them in the best way possible.”

Daniel Styles, principal, said: “The workshop with Baasit provides a great opportunity for the students at Tong to realise how creativity and ideas can develop into meaningful life experiences.

"We clearly see the benefit of this enjoyable and inspiring chance to enhance the learning for our young people and provide aspiration and potential career opportunities in a sector that continues to grow.

“The sessions are helping the students to embrace the importance of original ideas and creative thinking alongside developing the skills necessary to articulate and execute these.

"This aligns well with the academies vision and core purpose around nurturing talent, achieving excellence, teamwork and developing leaders of the future.”
