PLANS to turn Queensbury’s former Post Office into a coffee shop have received support from as far as the North Yorkshire Moors.

Karl Barraclough has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council to convert the High Street building into a coffee shop that would also sell food.

The application says the business would open between 7.30am to 4.30pm on Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on weekends.

So far the plans have received a number of letters of support from Queensbury and beyond. Letters sent to Bradford Council say the coffee shop will fill an empty unit and create jobs.

Other letters of support have been sent from Oxenhope, Leeds and even as far as Hutton Rudby near the North Yorkshire Moors, over 76 miles away from Queensbury.

The unit was shut when the Post Office facility moved to Sandbeds as part of a major shake up in how Post Office services were provided.

A decision on the application is expected before the end of the year.
