A MAN has been stabbed near a local convenience store.

Police were called to an incident near the Baildon Green Convenience Store, just off Cliffe Lane West, Baildon at 12:06pm today.

A police spokesperson revealed a male, believed to be in his 20s, suffered stab wounds and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).

The male is still in hospital receiving treatment, police added.

One witness spoke of a vehicle pulling up before swiftly leaving after the incident.

The area has been taped off and it is believed the road is closed while investigations are underway.

Police revealed no arrests have been made at this stage.

It is also believed that the top of nearby Denby Drive leading to The Crescent (next to the incident area) is closed.

First West Yorkshire bus service 626 (which serves Bradford, Shipley, Bingley and Baildon) is being diverted via Green Road between Thompson Lane and Cliffe Avenue.

The service is unable to serve Cliffe Lane West, Denby Drive or Bertram Drive.

Metro's P64 Sandal Primary School service and its P66 Baildon CE Primary School service cannot serve Cliffe Lane West and Bertram Drive at this time.

The buses will continue along Green Lane instead.
