AS construction gets underway on the newest further education centre in the district, New College Bradford has revealed it has already received 800 applications from potential students.

Building work on the new college, Bradford’s first specialist sixth-form college, is underway, and is on track to be completed well in time for its opening in September 2019.

The five-storey building in Nelson Street in the city centre is exclusively for 16 to 19-year-olds, and will provide teaching and learning space for 1,200 students when it reaches full capacity.

Stuart Nash, principal of New College Bradford, said: “Following on from our very well attended Open Day event at the end of September, our first admissions interview evening was a similar success.

“Our specialist team of advisers interviewed and conditionally offered places at New College Bradford to over 250 students in a whole range of A-level and BTEC subjects.

“Securing a place at an outstanding college like New College Bradford could be the first step in a student’s journey to realising their true potential.

“We will be holding three more interview evenings over the next few months, so it is imperative that students apply before February 22 to guarantee themselves a place.”

The college’s next open day is being held on Saturday, January 19, from 9am to 12pm, and for more details or to apply for a place, visit ncbradford.ac.uk
