A CAT rescue charity is appealing for urgent donations to ensure it can continue its work.

Brenda Satterley, who runs Allerton Cat Rescue, said that due to number of cats and kittens they were regularly dealing with and a large vet bill

The charity is based in part of Mrs Satterley's home and relies on donations of cash and food, as well as volunteers' time.

This year so far they have already re-homed nearly 700 cats and currently have around 80 kittens out in foster homes being cared for until they can be adopted.

She told the Telegraph & Argus: "We are so desperate for donations and also for volunteers. We owe around £11,000 at the vets and need to get that paid."

Mrs Satterley added that they had seen an increase in strays and sick cats being brought to the rescue centre since the RSPCA closed down in 2016.

Donations can be sent via Paypal to allertoncatrescuefundraising@hotmail.co.uk or by cheque to the centre at 258 Allerton Road, Bradford BD15 7QX.
