A PREMISES licence has been applied for at the former Bijou Cocktail Bar and nightclub, in Bingley.

Bradford Council has received the application for alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment at Delilah's Gin and Cocktail Bar, Unit 11b, Five Rise Shopping Centre, in Chapel Lane.

The opening times being sought for permission are Sunday to Wednesday 11am to 11.30pm; Thursday 11am to 2am and Friday and Saturday 11am to 4am.

The application was lodged by SH Bars Ltd on October 11.

Bijou nightclub was closed in December last year following the death of customer James Etherington and its licence was later revoked on the request of West Yorkshire Police.

Mr Etherington was assaulted on November 25 at the venue and died from his injuries 10 days later.

Ciaran Spencer, of Green Head Drive, Utley, Keighley, pleaded not guilty at Bradford Crown Court on Friday to unlawfully killing Mr Etherington.

A trail will take place next year.

Mr Etherington, 24, was a former pupil at Bingley Grammar School, and worked for Yorkshire Water.

He lived in Bingley and played for Keighley Cougar Cubs in his youth.

Representations for and against the application must be received by the council's licensing department by November 8.
