YOUNG fundraiser Jaxon Moore-Green who led a Christmas campaign encouraging celebrities to 'Sing for your Heart' has been rewarded for his efforts.

Jaxon, from Queensbury, was nominated for, and won, the award for fundraising in the 0-12 age group in the St James's Place Foundation Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards in recognition of his fundraising for Heart Research UK's campaign.

Among the celebrities who participated in the campaign were singer Aston Merrygold and comedian Brian Conley who were in last year's BBC's Strictly Come Dancing; West End star Beverley Knight, singer Alesha Dixon, Loose Women's Linda Robson and ITV Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan.

For seven-year-old Jaxon, the campaign was a cause close to his own heart. Jaxon was born with LEOPARD Syndrome, a rare condition affecting the skin, face and heart. As a result, Jaxon has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy where the muscles in the heart wall become thick and stiff, and pulmonary stenosis, a narrowing of the pulmonary valve which pumps blood from the heart to the lungs.

As well as leading Heart Research UK's 'Sing for your Heart' campaign, Jaxon also led the St George's Parade in Bradford in April, flying the flag in the parade for his Beavers, Cubs and Scouts section who were also collecting money for Heart Research UK.

Jaxon's proud mum, Heidi, said of the awards ceremony in Leeds: "It was a fabulous night and Jaxon enjoyed every minute and was made to feel very special."

She said the family also wanted to thank everyone who has sponsored and donated in the past such as Queensbury carol singers, the spectators at the St George’s Day Parade at Bradford Cathedral and the sing for your heart campaign.

"Raising awareness through such publicity is great as research is hope that one day a cure might be found for Jaxon," she added.
