A MACHINE setter who took part in a violent robbery in a pub toilet has been sentenced to a suspended term of imprisonment.

Kristian Haworth, 38, restrained the victim while his accomplice, Luke Thompson, beat him, stamped on him and stole his wallet containing £260, Bradford Crown Court heard on Wednesday.

Thompson, 32, of Victoria Road, Keighley, is serving a 45 month jail sentence imposed in March after he pleaded guilty to the robbery.

Haworth, of Skipton Road, Keighley, admitted the offence on the day he was due to stand trial.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Thompson told the victim: “Time’s up mate,” before pushing him to the floor and repeatedly striking him in the face in the toilet at the Cavendish Public House in Keighley on August 7 last year.

The victim, from the Newcastle area, was choked and his trousers pulled down before Thompson grabbed his wallet. Haworth’s barrister, Camille Morland, said he was in settled employment and regretted being led astray. He had a new partner and had cut right back on his drinking. Judge Colin Burn sentenced him to 20 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement and 180 hours of unpaid work. Haworth was ordered to pay his victim £300 compensation.
