A PROPOSED take away scheme is likely to be thrown out by Councillors because of its proximity to a school, leisure centre and park.
The planning application to turn 122 - 124 Lawkholme Lane, Keighley, into a take away will be decided by Bradford Council's Keighley Area Planning Panel on Wednesday.
Officers have recommended that the scheme, submitted by J Hussain, be refused for falling foul of its take away planning policy that prevents new take aways outside a city or town centre from opening within 400 metres of a school, park or sports and leisure facility.
Officers will tell members of the panel that the proposed new business would be within 400 metres of Eastwood Primary School, Victoria Park, Cliffe Castle Park and Keighley Leisure Centre.
The building is a former Asian fashion store, and the application to change its use had attracted 41 objection letters to the Council, but 90 letters of support.
The tougher restrictions on new take away businesses was introduced by Bradford Council in 2014 as a way of tackling childhood obesity.
The committee meets in Keighley Town Hall at 10am.
