BRADFORD is the area of Britain with the biggest percentage slashed off the original asking price of a house, analysis has found.

Across the district, the average reduction in percentage terms was 7.77 per cent, which equated to an average of £10, 738 per house in cash terms, according to property website Zoopla.

More than a third (37 per cent) of homes on the market in Bradford have had their original asking price slashed. Zoopla spokesman Lawrence Hall said the findings “should be welcome news for prospective first-time buyers looking to get a foot on the property ladder.”

He continued: “With further market uncertainty ahead, it will be interesting to see whether these reduction figures rise in the coming months.” Meanwhile, Newcastle upon Tyne and London were just behind Bradford as the areas with the biggest percentages cut from the original asking price. But house-hunters searching in Glasgow, Manchester or York may find vendors are more likely to dig their heels in.
