FOOTAGE has emerged of a Bradford driver who led police in Scarborough on a high-speed chase, which ended in a crash.

Abraham Fox, 26, of Rowanwood Gardens, Eccleshill, led North Yorkshire Police on the chase while carrying a young child on the back seat, topping speeds of 100 miles per hour.

The chase lasted more than four minutes, weaving in and out of traffic dangerously, before Fox slammed on his brakes, causing the police officers chasing him to crash into the back of his car, before trying to run off and being caught by the officers.

Fox was pursued by police after being spotted getting into an uninsured Volkswagen Golf he was not insured to drive. After the chase had ended, he was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

Fox admitted the offences, and on Monday was sentenced to 17 months behind bars at York Crown Court.

Fox had been jailed in 2015 for four years for his part in a burglary gang, and he had only been out of jail for six months when the chase occurred.

Judge Andrew Stubbs QC said: “You drove at ridiculous speeds and dangerously over many miles. It’s a miracle that nobody was seriously hurt.”
